Raw Vegan Carob Bliss Balls


When I was a kid, we used to make peanut butter balls with carob and coconut, and we called them “Bliss Balls”. Now that my sister has a two year old and pregnant with her 2nd, she started asking me if I remembered the recipe or if I could make one up. So I gave it a shot, and it came out pretty good, so I thought I would share it with you all!

These Bliss Balls are a great option to give your kids a healthy snack, to satisfy your cravings for a sweet snack, or as a nice pick me up during the day! You can make these in about 10 or 15 minutes so, put them in fridge for another 15 and after that, just take them out and eat them!

So without further ado…let us begin!

You will need:

  • 1 cup nut butter of your choice (I use almond or cashew. To learn how to make your own nut butter, see this link)
  • 1 tbsp carob powder
  • 5 dates (pitted and soaked to soften)
  • 2 tbsp coconut oil
  • 1 dropper of stevia
  • Optional: 1/2 cup coconut flakes


Step 1:

First, you want to blend the dates, to make them into a gooey, sticky paste. Drain the water from your soaked dates, and add them to your high powered blender. Blend on high for a few seconds at a time, stopping the blender to scrape the sides and make sure you don’t have any date pieces left.

Once the dates are fully blended, add them to a large mixing bowl

Step 2:

Add the rest of the ingredients into the large bowl with the dates, and start to mix together. You will need a strong wood spoon or spatula to mix, as nut butters can be very thick, and so are dates. If you want to add a couple tablespoons of coconut flakes, you may do so at this time.


Your mixture should come out something like this. Almost dough like. If it is too dry, you will need to add more coconut oil or nut butter. If it’s too runny, add more nut butter.

Step 3:

Once everything is mixed together, put the remaining coconut flakes on a plate. Measure out a tablespoon-size mix, roll into a ball, then roll in the coconut.


After the balls are covered in coconut, place in a large container or covered bowl. Repeat this process until you have no more nut butter mix.

Once you have completed, put the container in the fridge. You want to make sure the mix hardens before eating. This should only take about 15 to 30 minutes.

After that, go ahead, take out and eat!


This is such a tasty and filling snack! You will love the flavor! They are also very versatile. You can swap out the carob powder for raw cacao powder, or omit the powder altogether and just have nut butter balls. Whatever you prefer, there are no rules!


These balls come out so fudgy and delicious.
