How to Make Raw Nut Butters

Nut butters are soooo easy to make, and they come out delicious! Plus, you know exactly what is going in them, no extra unnecessary oils and no preservatives. Let’s start first with…

RAW ALMOND BUTTER

– For the raw almond butter, all you need is 2 cups soaked almonds, and 1 to 2 tbsp coconut oil.

Before anything, you need to soak the almonds in 4 cups water for about 4 hours. The general soaking time for 1 to 2 cups of almonds is about 4 hours. After that, you rinse them out, and throw them in your high powered blender with 1 tbsp of coconut oil.

Pulse/blend the mixture, scraping it down the sides until it becomes mixed and creamy. If you need more liquid, you can add the other tbsp of coconut oil or add some water. Once the mixture is blended smoothly, it should be easy to scrape off the sides.

Put it in a jar and store in the refrigerator. If you leave it out, the peanut butter will go rancid, so be sure to refrigerate. And that’s it!

RAW CASHEW BUTTER

– For raw cashew butter, it’s about the same thing. Soak 2 cups of cashew nuts in 4 cups water for 4 hours. Put in the blender, with 1 tbsp of coconut oil, and pulse blend until mixture is smooth and creamy. If you need more liquid, add another tbsp of coconut oil and water.

And that’s it! Be sure to store in the refridgerator as well.

For an extra tasty mixture, throw in a couple tablespoons of coconut flakes, as pictured above. Makes it taste AH-may-zing!

Time to go make raw cashew coconut fudge!
