Macadamia Nut Milk

I am typically so into drinking my Walnut Coconut Milk, that I tend to forget that there are so many other nut milks I haven’t even tried making yet! Well, last week was the week I finally saved some of my macadamia nuts to make milk instead of eating them all!

Like walnuts, macadamias contain protein, iron, magnesium, vitamin A, niacin and folate–all great sources for healthy hair and skin! I’ve always liked macadamia nuts, to me the texture and flavor are slightly more unique than other nuts. Of course, like cashews, they are also one of the fattier nuts. But…you can spread that fat out by  making nut milk! So…that’s what I did!

This recipe can be used with both coconut milk or water, it’s up to you! As usual, there are only 2 ingredients: the nuts and the liquid. It is up to you if you want to add in other sweeteners, spices or mix the nuts.

So….let us begin!

You will need:

  • 1/2 cup macadamia nuts (soaked for 4-8 hours prior)
  • 3 1/2 to 4 cups water or coconut water
  • Optional:
    • 1/2 tsp cinnammon
    • couple dates
    • 1/2 tsp vanilla
    • 1/4 tsp nutmeg

Add the nuts and your water or coconut water to the blender, and blend on high for 30 seconds, then low for another 30. Voila! You are done! Pour into a jar or pitcher (I always use old juice, honey or bean jars) and store in the fridge. It it will stay good for up to a week!

I tried adding some macadamia nut milk to my coffee, and it tasted great!

Enjoy!
